Combatting Fusarium head blight: advances in molecular interactions between Fusarium graminearum and wheat

چکیده

Abstract Fusarium head blight (FHB), mainly caused by graminearum , is one of the most devastating diseases in wheat and barley worldwide. In addition to causing severe yield losses, F. produces deoxynivalenol (DON), a trichothecene mycotoxin which harmful human health serves as an important virulence factor. Currently, changes global climate tillage systems have made FHB epidemics more frequent severe. During past decade, considerable efforts been deployed reveal pathogenic mechanisms identify resistance genes wheat, breed FHB-resistant varieties. this review, we highlight recent advances pathogenesis, F . -wheat interaction, defense mechanisms. This review contains four main sections: (1) signal sensing transduction associated with pathogenesis ; (2) regulation functions DON during infection; (3) roles -secreted enzymes effectors facilitating pathogen infection wheat; (4) components involved interactions A comprehensive understanding molecular between will contribute development novel efficient strategies for controlling FHB.

Phylogeny and genetic diversity of Fusarium graminearum species complex associated with Fusarium head blight of wheat in Moghan plain (Iran)

Thirty-seven isolates of Fusarium graminearum species complexobtained from wheat heads with Fusarium head blight symptoms were selected and used for phylogenetic studies. They were collected from different localities of Moghan plain (Ardebil province, Iran). Partial sequences of translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF), putative reductase (RED) and UTP-ammonia ligase (URA) genes were amplifi...

A Simple Method for the Assessment of Fusarium Head Blight Resistance in Korean Wheat Seedlings Inoculated with Fusarium graminearum

Fusarium head blight (FHB; scab) caused mainly by Fusarium graminearum is a devastating disease of wheat and barley around the world. FHB causes yield reductions and contamination of grain with trichothecene mycotoxins such as deoxynivalenol (DON) which are a major health concern for humans and animals. The objective of this research was to develop an easy seed or seedling inoculation assay, an...

Effects of Fusarium Head Blight on Wheat Grain and Malt Infected by Fusarium culmorum

Fusarium head blight is a destructive disease of cereals worldwide. The aim of this research was to study the effect of heavy Fusarium infection with Fusarium culmorum and biosynthesis of mycotoxins on different wheat varieties during malting by setting up field trials with control and Fusarium-inoculated treatments at the Agricultural Institute Osijek. The highest occurrence of Fusarium mycoto...

Morphological and molecular identification of Fusarium head blight isolates from wheat in North of Iran

Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most economically important and destructive fungal diseases of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Golestan province, one of the most important zones of wheat cultivation in Iran, is also known for its high rate of digestive tract cancer, which has been attributed to many biotic factors such as fungal toxins. In order to investigate the distribution of toxicog...
